An exciting and interesting opportunity is available for a suitably qualified Clinical, Counselling or Health psychologist to join the General Medicine Psychology team within the Clinical Health Psychology Department at Salford Royal Hospital.

You will join a very well-established psychology team providing psychological assessment and care to a range of diagnosis. The post holder will be expected to offer expertise at a senior level in this exciting field of Clinical Health Psychology. Team working will be integral to the role, including involvement in MDT meetings and regular liaison, teaching, and joint working with professional colleagues to support the wider medical/nursing team in relation to psychological aspects of care.

Support the Consultant Lead Psychologist to provide senior leadership, supervision and support for the members of the general medicine psychology team.

Triage and assess referrals from the 15 medical specialisms,

Lead on service delivery for complex cases within the general medicine service, in collaboration with the service lead.

Lead on several of the areas of the general medicine service as a special interest, developing links with the specialist nurses, members of the medical team, relevant special interest groups and 3rd sector agencies. To develop teaching for the university ClinPsyD Programmes, Health psychology course and the IAPT training in these specialist areas, as required.

To contribute to clinical pathways and development of business cases to maintain capacity for this rapidly growing service, in consultation with the service lead.

Provide specialist assessment and treatment recommendations for individuals accessing the general medicine health psychology service. S

Manage referrals from multiple sources, maintain outpatient clinical psychology waiting lists, and take autonomous management of their own caseload.

To line manage an assistant psychologist, where needed and contribute to specialist supervision to other members of the psychology team
