Summary
Higgins Talent are proud to be recruiting on behalf of Heart & Home Living for the position of Children’s Residential Support Worker based in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire.
This is a full-time role offering up to 46.5 hours per week, with overtime available, and a salary of up to £29,120 per year plus additional sleep-in payments of £60 per sleep (up to eight per month).
The position follows a three-week rolling rota including evenings and weekends, and may occasionally require travel to other homes in the Northamptonshire area.
Heart & Home Living provide specialist residential care for children and young people with complex emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD), creating safe, nurturing and trauma-informed environments where every child is supported to grow in confidence and independence.
As a Children’s Residential Support Worker, you will be part of a dedicated, professional team delivering consistent care, positive routines and emotional support to young people. You will help build trust, provide guidance through challenges, and encourage each child to develop life skills, resilience and a sense of belonging.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate empathy, patience, emotional awareness and the ability to remain calm and professional during challenging situations. Strong communication, teamwork and adaptability are essential, as is a flexible approach to shifts, weekends and sleep-ins.
Applicants must hold a full UK driving licence and either possess or be willing to work towards a Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare or Health and Social Care (Children and Young People).
This role involves practical and physical elements including walking long distances, engaging in play and activities, and participating in safe physical interventions once trained. In return, you will receive excellent training and professional development opportunities, a quarterly performance bonus (when the home is at full occupancy), a £500 retention bonus after 12 months, a £2 per hour overtime enhancement, and access to a comprehensive wellbeing programme.
Additional benefits include casual dress, company events, mentoring, pension scheme, free parking, gym membership and a supportive, team-focused environment. All successful applicants will undergo enhanced DBS and reference checks in line with safeguarding regulations, and it is an offence for anyone barred from working with children or vulnerable adults to apply.
This role is based in person in Wellingborough and applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
