Are you a Health Care Assistant looking for a new challenge or someone with Lifestyle Service experience with a passion for helping people stop smoking? We have an exciting opportunity to join the CoSTED Programme at Ipswich Hospital as a Tobacco Dependence Advisor. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys patient-facing work and is looking for a rewarding opportunity to support individuals in making positive lifestyle changes.

You will be part of the ESNEFT Tobacco Treatment Service Team.

The main aim of this scheme is to recruit smokers attending the ED to begin a smokefree journey post-discharge.

The main elements of this will include:
1. Brief advice on smoking cessation
2. Provision of a vape starter kit plus advice on its use
3. Follow up at 1, 3, 6 months
4. Referral to local stop smoking services

• Engaging with patients and visitors attending ED and Outpatients, to start a discussion on the specific needs in order to maximise their chance of a successful bid to quit smoking.
• Issuing the patient with the appropriate vape to support the quit attempt.
• Where vaping is not deemed appropriate for the patient, establishing alternative support in the community.
• Maintaining contact with the patient, contacting them at least once a week prior to the 28-day quit date.
• Recording the details of those using the service by completing the
documentation supporting the project in accordance with agreed SOPs
• As required supporting the TDAs delivering the inpatient Tobacco Treatment Service.
