The post will be of interest to any anaesthetist who has completed Stage1 training or equivalent and gained FRCA part 1 or equivalent.
The successful candidate will be working alongside our existing anaesthetic residents with equivalent rotational opportunities to gain the necessary experience to support a Portfolio Pathway application for specialist registration. The expectation is that the successful candidate will be on the 'on call' rota for theatres, obstetrics or ICM at an appropriate level for their experience.
The 2 posts will be based in Bristol but are likely to rotate to our local DGHs during the programme, enabling all curriculum requirements to be met
To improve clinical knowledge, skills and attitudes for Stage 2 and 3 anaesthetic training as per the 2021 curriculum. To engage in research, teaching, quality improvement, and other components of the anaesthetic 2021 curriculum's Generic Professional Capabilities, under consultant guidance, with a view to gaining the required competencies to apply for entry onto the specialist register . Fellows will undergo annual appraisal to ensure progress is as expected. Progression is subject to successfully achieving the expected development goals as with our specialist trainees.

Great Western Hospitalis a medium sized district general hospital, conveniently located on the edge of Swindon. Recent significant investment has allowed expansion to meet the needs of our increasing local population. We provide anaesthesia for a range of specialities including trauma and orthopaedics, general surgery, breast surgery, ophthalmic surgery, ENT, urology, gynaecology, obstetrics and oral surgery. There are 18 theatres across the site including main theatres, delivery suite and oral complexes.
