We are looking for an experienced, calm, and reliable Support Worker to join an established care team providing 2:1 support for a young adult with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Severe Learning Disabilities
The individual is an active and curious young person who enjoys structured activities, time in the community, and engaging with supportive staff. They respond best to calm, patient workers who can maintain consistency, build trust, and follow clear routines.
The person requires high levels of supervision due to limited awareness of danger and may display behaviours that challenge. Full training, guidance, and ongoing supervision will be provided.
Main Responsibilities:
Provide 2:1 support at home and in the community.
Follow the individual’s Behaviour Support Plan and Risk Assessment at all times.
Support engagement in meaningful activities, outings, and community access.
Remain calm and professional during challenging moments and implement de-escalation strategies.
Support with personal care tasks as needed (e.g., bathing, dressing, hygiene).
Ensure safety awareness and supervision at all times, especially in community settings.
Record and report any incidents, behavioural changes, or concerns to the care team.
Work collaboratively with family members, tutors, and professionals involved in the person’s care.
Minimum 1–2 years’ experience supporting individuals with Autism, Learning Disabilities, or behaviours that challenge.
Training or experience in Positive Behaviour Support and physical intervention techniques (e.g., Restrain Training, Team-Teach, TMVA, or equivalent).
Patient, empathetic, and emotionally resilient approach.
Good communication skills and ability to use clear, simple language.
Physically capable of managing incidents safely as part of a 2:1 support team.
Consistent, reliable, and able to maintain professional boundaries.
Valid Enhanced DBS and right to work in the UK.
