As a result, alongside several consortium partners; Balfour Beatty have been selected by bp (British Petroleum) to construct a first-of-a-kind fully integrated gas-fired power station with carbon capture and storage which is a key driving force behind plans to make Teesside the UK’s first decarbonised industrial cluster.
Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic SIPS Lead to contribute to the Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project based at our site in Redcar and Cleveland.
What you'll be doing
The SIPS Lead is responsible for;
• To be the focal point for all on-site Construction matters related to the WIC Transverse Services.
• To guide and support the various Construction Team’s of Delivery resource by providing bespoke scope knowledge in the defined Disciplines.
• Provision of reach back support to supply chain’s relative to discipline. Act as liaison to the Construction Manager with respect to technical matters on the WIC Transverse services.
• Work alongside the Construction Directors and Leads and liaise with Partner Delivery team in terms of coordination of delivery of scope and partner expectations.
• Provide safety advice and guidance relating to the WIC Transverse services standards and systems.
• Support the suv-contract, procurement and QA teams with the selection and appointment of suitable services contractors.
• Support the development and delivery of an “end to end” installation strategy for all the WIC Transverse services aligning with the site / area delivery strategy.
• Oversee and review the preparation of the specialist documentation and deliverables required to support the installation of all specific WIC Transverse services scope.
• Drive the continuous compliance of delivery standards across the project and ensure that “best for project” interface decisions are implemented across the multiple services, areas and buildings.
• Support the commercial team as necessary to provide accurate cost advice for all the WIC Transverse services installation activities and sub contractors.
• Support the planning team to develop accurate schedule advice for all the WIC Transverse services installation activities in line with project schedules.
• Support the quality team to develop inspection deliverables for all the WIC Transverse services installation activities, ensuring all works are carried out in line with approved Quality standards and deliverables.
• To ensure the provision of accurate performance and progress information is provided to support the weekly / monthly reporting of on-site installation activities.
• Work with all relevant stakeholders to provide input into resource forecasting and management (white & blue collar)
• Have accountability for the successful delivery of all commercial, quality and delivery aspects of the subject scope
• Initiating strategies and supporting the preparation of deliverables relating to the relevant WIC Transverse services installation activities, including (but not limited to) the strategic pre-planning of the multi-discipline pre-requisites, material requests, IT and Comms, logistics, plant, equipment, and resource planning requirements.
• Cost advice monitoring for WIC Transverse services installation.
• Schedule advice relating to the WIC Transverse services installation activities.
• Technical information to support the wider NZT project in relation to all the relevant WIC Transverse services activities.
• Risk & Change management mitigation strategies
• Oversight and management of all the SIPs sub contractors with assistance from project managers, commercial, QA and construction.
Who we're looking for
The successful candidate will have the following personal qualities and experience:
- Minimum of 15 years’ experience in senior project management roles and delivery of complex Major Project installation activities.
- Minimum 15 years demonstrable Experience on WIC related discipline projects.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Up to date knowledge and awareness of all current Health, Safety and Environmental standards and requirements
- Confident in the use of IT and MS Office software to an operational standard
- Awareness of the UK CDM regulations
- A high demonstrable level of technical knowledge relating to safe work process and best practice control systems in the 4 key WIC Transverse Enabling services.
- Minimum 8 years Management level working knowledge of the following Insulation related Industry guidelines – CINI / BS 5970 / BS5975/ EN 12811 Access standards / System scaffold Codes/ Coatings Specification understanding
