Lorne Primary School is a non-denominational primary school which opened on 21st February 1876 and serves an area of North-East Edinburgh. The catchment includes areas of Local Authority housing, private housing and private lets. The current roll in P1-7 is 133 pupils across 7 classes and a Nursery class with a current roll of 20. Twenty-four different home languages are represented across the school with 43% of learners having English as an Additional Language. We are proud of the diversity of our school community. The school is led and managed by a Head Teacher, a Principal Teacher and Business Manager. The school is part of the Leith Academy Learning Community, along with Hermitage Park, Leith and Craigentinny Primary Schools.
The school building includes 10 classrooms, one of which is a Support for Learning room and one which is a general-purpose space. There is also a Nursery, a Library / Learning Hub and a meeting room. Two spaces are used by the Pupil Support Officer to host informal nurture-based groups. There is a breakfast club run by PSAs in the dining hall. Gingerbread After School Club, an external provider, are also based in the dining hall from Monday to Friday.

We're committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included and able to be their best at work, and we recognise the benefits that a diverse workforce with different values, beliefs, experience, and backgrounds brings to us as an organisation.
As part of our goal to improve our organisational culture and create a great place to work together for the people of Edinburgh, we want to make sure that we're bringing the best people into our roles, not just in their skills and experience but also in their approach to work.
To help achieve this, we're changing the way we interview and assess candidates by moving from a competency-based interview approach to a behavioural and technical (skills for the job) based approach. This new way of interviewing will allow us to assess how you think and how you would bring Our Behaviours of Respect, Integrity and Flexibility into your ways of working.
