Level 2a Specialist Neuro Rehab Unit
Location:Leicester General Hospital
Permanent Post– 22.5 hours per week
We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our motivated and enthusiastic team working on our Level 2a Specialist Neuro Rehab unit at Leicester General Hospital. We are seeking applicants who are team players and enjoy the challenge of working in a busy specialist Rehab unit.
University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust (UHL) is one of the largest and busiest NHS trusts in the country providing care for more than 1 million residents in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Therapy Service at UHL has a high profile within the Trust, this being reflected across our Neurology Services.
The Therapy team are responsible for delivering specialist Physiotherapy to patient's that have a neurological condition that focuses on value based goals. This service is based at the Leicester General Hospital.
You will be working alongside a large Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) to enable effective treatment and timely discharges of patients. We are passionate about promoting independence and the best possible outcomes for our patients whilst preventing deconditioning in the acute hospital.
You will demonstrate excellent communication, prioritisation and time management skills. This post will be suitable for a candidate who has a wide range of rotational experience, particularly in the area of neurology.
You will join a supportive team of Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists in the this specialist unit.
You will receive regular supervision, appraisal and be encouraged to be involved in service development, audit and research. You will be expected to support and supervise other staff as well as provide practice placements for students.
The successful candidate would need to be flexible in their working as the service is provide a collaborative approach to therapy across all systems.

• To be part of the Physiotherapy team serving the neurology Therapy specialty.
• To carry a clinical caseload: working to national and local guidelines and Service priorities with those who may have complex needs including physical, psychological and communication difficulties.
• To support the team leader and clinical specialist and operational functions of the team and supervise and team members.
• To promote independence and facilitate optimum function, working with patients, families and carers and the multi-disciplinary team to achieve agreed outcomes for patients.
• To increase and consolidate existing clinical knowledge and skills.
