What skills and experience we're looking for

Are you planning ahead and looking for a new challenge to start as soon as possible? Would you like to be part of a dedicated team and help transform a child’s life? If you’re passionate about making a difference and understand the importance of supporting the most vulnerable in our society, we’d love to hear from you. You don’t need extensive training before starting—just enthusiasm, a genuine interest in working with children, and a willingness to learn. We are currently seeking Teaching Assistants to join our team at Booker Park School, supporting students with a range of special educational and complex needs. Also, as part of Buckinghamshire Council, you’ll enjoy:

• Financial rewards and discounts at local shops, cafés, and restaurants
• Access to a generous pension scheme
• A free, confidential 24-hour Employee Assistance Programme

What the school offers its staff

Booker Park School is a primary special school and proud member of the Vale Federation of Schools. With 243 pupils on roll, we cater to children with a wide range of complex needs, including profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), severe and moderate learning difficulties, and autism spectrum conditions—diagnosed in nearly half of our pupils. Our mission is to help every young person become a successful learner, enabling them to reach their full potential in a caring, supportive, and inclusive environment. We provide high-quality education and care, supported by a multidisciplinary team of therapists and professionals who deliver a range of therapies tailored to individual needs.

Staff at Booker Park benefit from:

• An excellent training and development package
• Opportunities to grow within an innovative and forward-thinking team
• A therapeutic and unique learning environment designed to support both pupils and staff

Further details about the role

Working under the guidance of teaching and senior class staff, this rewarding—yet sometimes challenging—role involves supporting students to access and engage with teacher-led curriculum and learning activities.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assisting with the implementation of individual education and behaviour plans
• Supporting learning both in the classroom and in alternative settings
• Providing personal care, attending to hygiene needs, and administering medication

Comprehensive training is provided to support you in the role, and we actively encourage continued professional development for all staff. For further details please see the Job Description and Candidate Pack.

We are looking for individuals who bring resilience, common sense, and a strong team spirit to their work. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude and a genuine appreciation for encouraging independence in students with special educational and complex needs.

Key attributes include:

• The ability to communicate effectively with all members of the school community
• Confidence in liaising with other professionals to implement recommended strategies
• A good working knowledge of ICT to support learning effectively
• A commitment to ongoing training and professional development

For further details please see the Person Specification and Candidate Pack.

Commitment to safeguarding

The Vale Federation of Schools is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff, workers and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to provide two satisfactory references, undertake pre-employment checks including a health check and have a cleared Enhanced Disclosure & Barring check. An online search (including social media) will be carried out for all shortlisted candidates as part of our recruitment process.
