Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to join their team on a temporary basis
Duties include;

  • Manage and process high-volume weekly and monthly payrolls for employees.
  • Ensure accurate and timely payments in compliance with statutory regulations (PAYE, NI, SSP, SMP, etc.).
  • Handle complex payroll calculations and adjustments.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation and ensure compliance with HMRC, pension schemes (e.g. LGPS, NEST), and auto-enrolment requirements.
  • Submit Real Time Information (RTI) reports and year-end returns (e.g., P11Ds).
  • Use payroll SAP Success Factors system to manage data and generate reports.
  • Upload net payments to banking systems and reconcile payroll transactions.
  • Monitor KPIs and performance indicators related to payroll service delivery.
  • Liaise with internal departments (HR, Finance, IT) and external bodies (HMRC, pension providers).
  • Respond to employee queries and resolve complaints or discrepancies.
  • Ensure robust internal controls and data protection practices.
  • Identify and mitigate risks such as overpayments or data breaches.
  • Contribute to payroll system upgrades and digital transformation initiatives for SAP success factors
  • Support the development of payroll strategies and process improvements.

You will have;

  • Deep understanding of payroll processes, and UK legislation (e.g., PAYE, NI, pensions).
  • Experience with payroll software SAP Success Factors
  • Knowledge of HMRC regulations, GDPR, and audit requirements.
  • Ability to identify and mitigate payroll-related risks.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in manual calculations.
  • Ability to interpret data and produce meaningful reports.
  • Skilled in Excel including vlookups and pivot tables.
  • Comfortable with digital tools and system upgrades for SAP Success Factors
