An opportunity has arisen to join us as a Project Engineer within our Electrical Engineering team.

The Team

The Electrical Engineering team sits within the Highway Operations section of the Highways and Infrastructure Service. The core focus is to manage Client activities relating to over 63,000 street lighting columns and 8000 illuminated traffic signs and bollards together with on-going delivery of the Council’s energy reduction programme. This includes a successful Design and Build service that is offered to Housing Developers county-wide.

The role

As a Project Engineer within our Electrical Engineering team, you will:

- Manage and oversee both new street lighting installations and ongoing maintenance activities associated with the Council’s Street lighting and illuminated sign and bollard stock.

- Work with internal and external clients across the whole county.

- Manage the installation service together with commissioning of completed projects.

- Ensure effective delivery of ongoing street lighting and illuminated sign maintenance.

- Identify, assess and design street lighting improvement projects including the provision of new street lighting for housing developers and the improvement of the Council’s existing street lighting network.

What you will bring

To be successful you will:

- Be electrically qualified with an HNC/ONC in Electrical Engineering or C&G Electrically qualified or equivalent.

- Have significant relevant experience in the management of street lighting maintenance and contract management.

- Have the ability to assimilate new initiatives, technology and software.

- Be able to interpret information to make decisions which influence a range of actions, projects and/or people.

Applicants are not expected to have experience in all the fields the job description covers; some previous experience is needed, with on-the-job training given provided in other fields as required.
