Are you a compassionate and proactive graduate with a passion for supporting children with special educational needs? A caring and inclusive primary school in Barking and Dagenham is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils 1:1 and in small groups, helping them to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
This role is ideal for aspiring SEN teachers, educational psychologists, or graduates with a background in psychology, childhood studies or education who are looking to gain long-term experience in a supportive primary school setting.
Key Highlights:
• SEN Teaching Assistant – supporting pupils
• £95–£110 per day depending on experience
• Full-time, term-time only – September 2025 start
• Located in Barking and Dagenham – accessible via District Line, Overground and local buses
• Inclusive and nurturing school with a strong SEN and pastoral support ethos
• Work closely with SENCO, class teachers, and external specialists
What You’ll Be Doing:
• Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with additional needs
• Implementing personalised learning plans and behaviour strategies
• Supporting pupils with communication, sensory and emotional regulation
• Assisting class teachers with inclusive classroom activities
• Monitoring progress and helping pupils develop confidence and independence
• Creating a safe, calm and encouraging learning environment
Ideal SEN Teaching Assistant Profile:
• Graduate with a 2:1 or above in Psychology, Education, or a related field
• Experience supporting children with SEN (autism, ADHD, speech & language needs etc.) is highly desirable
• Patient, empathetic and resilient with a genuine passion for supporting pupils
• Clear communication skills and a calm, positive demeanour
• Committed to inclusion and safeguarding of all pupils
• Looking to build a career in SEN teaching, therapy, or educational psychology
