Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified and experienced dietitian who has specialised in eating disorders and has a passion for patient centred care.

Our adult inpatient Eating Disorders Unit is looking for an enthusiastic person to be part of our well-established service that is forward thinking and research lead.

The post is currently based at the Bethlem Royal Hospital, in Beckenham, Kent. However, will be moving to The Maudsley Hospital, in Denmark Hill in the future.

As an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT), you will be responsible for the dietetic care of your patients. There is one other Highly Specialised Dietitian working on the unit with whom you will work collaboratively, leading and developing the dietetic service provision for the inpatient unit. You will each carry your own caseload of patients. The service positively focuses on recovery with all patients supporting maximising of their potential.

You must be a HCPC registered Dietitian. NHS experience is desirable.

As a member of the adult in-patient eating disorders multi-disciplinary team (MDT), to:

• Lead the dietetics service for the team, by developing appropriate service standards, care pathways and materials for the dietetics service, and contributing to MDT service development and evaluation.

• Work as an autonomous dietetic practitioner carrying a complex inpatient caseload, using evidence-based and client-centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions in service users who are at high medical risk.

• Liaise with Specialist Eating Disorder dietetic colleagues working in other areas of the eating disorder pathway with SLaM i.e. day and out patient services

• To ensure that there is dietetic advice to support the monitoring of the Trust’s catering contracts and delivery of a positive patient experience at mealtimes.

• Support the service by providing information, education and training for all health professional colleagues as well as service users and carers on nutritional issues relating to eating disorders and mental health.

• Uphold the standards of the MEED guidelines and foster positive working relationships providing specialist advice to colleagues within the acute hospitals to help deliver care to patients with a diagnosed eating disorder

• Identify and lead on clinical research, audit, quality improvement innovations and data collection priorities for the dietetic service provision on the eating disorders inpatient unit.

The wider SLaM Dietetic team comprises of 16 Dietitians and one Dietetic Assistant Practitioner. The dietitians have specialised in mental health dietetics and/or eating disorders. We are a welcoming and friendly team, who are supportive of one another and our MDT colleagues. We work collaboratively and innovatively, building upon the evidence base to advance dietetic practice within mental health, striving to always be at the fore front of mental health dietetics and to provide excellence in dietetic care. Our dietetic offices are located at the Bethlem Royal Hospital and Maudsley Hospitals.
