Thisrole is an exciting opportunity on the Integrated Neighbourhood Team (INT) for MossSide, Rusholme and Hulme INT based at Moss Side Health Centre. The role ofSenior Social Worker is a vital role on the team and will work collaborativelywith the Team Manager to ensure the smooth and effective running of the team.TheSenior Social Worker will work closely with the Team Manager, Social Workersand Social Care Assessors on the team to promote that positive outcomes areachieved for the citizens of Moss Side, Rusholme and Hulme.
Effectivecommunication skills and knowledge of relevant legislation are required for therole, as well as a solid appreciation of strength-based and person-centredpractice.
MossSide INT is a busy team based on the Western side of the central locality,covering a diverse range of citizens with varying strengths and needs. The teamis settled, hard-working and friendly, with an established culture ofsupporting one another and striving to achieve the best outcomes for our citizens.
Beingbased in Moss Side Health Centre, we promote multi-disciplinary working andwork closely with colleagues from a range of partner agencies. We arepassionate to work for Manchester City Council and for the citizens ofManchester.
TheSenior Social Worker role is a supervisory role, and the role holder willprovide professional support and guidance to the team as well as formalsupervision to a number of team members. The Senior Social Worker isresponsible for ensuring that necessary legal, policy and ethical imperativesare maintained in working with customers of the service.
Therole holder will support the leadership of the Team Manager providing aconsistent and effective service in complex individual and family situations,maintaining good working relationships within the team, with other Councilservices and with a range of external partners.
Therole holder will be responsible for the safe delivery of social carefunctions, ensuring the effective discharge of statutory responsibilities andthe provision of a high-quality standard of service. The role holder willmanage safeguarding risk effectively, working within a multi-agency environmentto provide a professional social work service.
KeyResponsibilities will include:
Providingprofessional supervision to qualified and unqualified staff
Providepractice support and guidance to team members working in complex situations,promoting citizen wellbeing.
Supporting the effectivemanagement of the team, supporting the Team Manager to maintain a high level ofperformance.
RegularDuty Management, providing advice and guidance to the Duty workers.
Embeddinga reflective working culture within the team including facilitating Communitiesof Practice reflective meetings
Undertakingresponsibility for managing specific aspects of practice and leadership in theabsence of the Team Manager.
Supportwhere necessary in the wider roles and performance of the team in respect ofadult safeguarding, assessments and reviews.

Essential requirements for the role:
- Communication Skills: Is able to effectively transfer key and complex information to all levels of staff, adapting the style of communication as necessary and ensuring that this information is understood. Ability to advise others and deal with sensitive issues in difficult situations inside and outside area, negotiating riskier demands.
- Planning and Organising Skills: Excellent time management skills, creating own work schedules, prioritising, preparing in advance and setting realistic timescales for own self and others. Has the ability to visualise a sequence of actions needed to achieve a specific goal and how to estimate the resources required.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to absorb, understand and quickly assimilate complex information and complex and compare information from a number of different sources. Ability to identify patterns and trends that may impact on decisions and propose realistic conclusions identifying the risks and any assumptions made.
- Problem Solving and Decision Making Skills: Ability to formulate independently a range of options for new or unfamiliar situations and to select the appropriate course of action to produce a logical, practical and acceptable solution. An ability to make independent decision of a relatively uniform nature.
- ICT Skills: Skills to use ICT systems to obtain and analyse data and present it effectively through a variety of ICT channels.
- People Management Skills: Ability to lead, manage and motivate staff to high levels of performance in order to achieve change and maximise staff potential and contribution to the achievement of identified aims and objectives. Can also lead and plan the work of the team which deals with more diverse issues.

Willingness to travel to any location within the boundaries of the City of Manchester. Desirable requirements that would be useful in this role:
Knowledge of Liquid Logic Social Care System and proficiency in using Microsoft Office functions.
