Summary
To deliver care, in accordance to Trust policies, procedures and guidelines, according to competencies as delegated by the Lead for Phlebotomy, therefore providing safely carried out procedures and maintaining high standards of care at all times. To ensure that all staff follow standard operational procedures. To cover all 4 centers when needed and be flexible to work on a 6 days rota Monday to Saturday with time operation 7-15.30 depending on the service's needs. To ensure that all samples are labelled and processed correctly for collection by the Transport Driver and ultimately the relevant pathology service. To be competent on using EPR and CERNER MILLENIUM , Swiftqueue system or any other relevant information system for the post, to comply with the data protection act and follow local codes of practice to ensure appropriate action is taken to safeguard confidential information To undertake any relevant training activities as required by the post and to maintain Mandatory annual training in line with Trust policies. To ensure all stock levels are maintained to ensure a continuing community service without disruption to the clients. To communicate effectively and sensitively with patients concerning the phlebotomy procedure, with due respect for the patients welfare and dignity. To be able to work in a situation where personal tact, diplomacy and judgement is used and could be questioned. To professionally interact within a multidisciplinary NHS team, with clients and their guardians and carers. To ensure staff follow at all times in line with Infection Control policies. To maintain a clean and hygienic area for the purpose of taking blood. To be able to confidently, discreetly and directly deal with clients infected with potentially hazardous and possibly life threatening body fluids as part of your working practice. To work flexibly as part of a team and cover for colleagues as required. To work as and when necessary at any Center with in ELFT trust sites. To be able to participate in covering a 6 day a week Phlebotomy service that would include weekends as required for service delivery and be flexible on weekly rotas adjusting the 25hours/weekly with different operational times adjusting to services needs. To carry out all relevant forms of care without direct supervision, once deemed competent. To exercise good personal time management, punctuality and consistent reliable attendance. - To promote a positive image of the Trust.
