Actual Starting
Starting Salary £18,798 per annum
30.00 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (Term Time Only)
Monday to Friday 8.30 am – 3.00 pm
An exciting opportunity to work in a brand-new facility, as an enthusiastic food and textiles technician to assist classroom teachers and pupils within practical lessons. The applicant should have experience of working kitchen facilities, use of ovens and other cooking equipment, with a good knowledge of food preparation and hygiene. The role also includes on occasions classroom cover within the department for some lessons.
Essential personal qualities and expected roles:
• Practical skills are essential.
• Computer literate.
• Be able to work independently.
• Ability to work as part of a team of adults and with young people.
• Able to follow instructions.
• Have good communication skills.
• Completing laundry duties on a daily basis.
• Preparing in advance for practical sessions in both textiles and food.
• Assist with photocopying and filing on behalf of the relevant areas as well as other general admin duties required from time to time.
• Carrying out stock control and ordering.
• To be responsible for both routine and non-routine checking, cleaning and maintenance of all food & textiles equipment, ensuring the required standards are achieved.
• Keeping working areas in a neat, clean, tidy and safe condition.
• To support the classroom teacher and pupils within practical lessons when required, in both KS3 and KS4.
• The upkeep of industrial ovens and other equipment, within the working kitchen.
• The ordering and preparation of ingredient/recipes.
• Textiles duties will include: threading sewing machines, cutting out fabric, operating the laser cutter (training will be provided).
• The ability to build relationships with both pupils and staff is essential.
