Are you an energetic, caring, and fun-loving individual who enjoys spending time outdoors and making a real difference in a child’s life? If so, we’d love to hear from you!
We’re currently looking for a Personal Assistant to support a cheerful and adventurous 6-year-old boy during school holidays. He has been diagnosed with global developmental delay, autism, Alfred’s syndrome, and sensory processing difficulties. He loves being out and about, especially if it involves planes, trains, or cars – and the local park is one of his favourite spots!
What will the role involve?
You’ll be helping him get ready for the day with personal care including washing, bathing, and dressing. Once you’re out and about, your role will include keeping him safe (he has no awareness of danger and can sometimes abscond) and fully engaged with activities he enjoys. He uses a pushchair when out, so someone physically able and active is a must!
Key responsibilities:
Personal care
Meal assistance (he has some food sensitivities and texture-related struggles)
Support with social activities and outings
Providing fun, structured, and safe experiences during the school holidays
What are we looking for?
Someone reliable, positive, and flexible
A good sense of humour and caring nature
Experience supporting children with disabilities (preferred)
Must be a member of the PVG Scheme or willing to join (required by law from April 2025)
A driving licence, experience with moving and handling, and supporting individuals with additional needs would be a big plus.
This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to a lovely young boy and his family during the school holidays – all while having fun and getting outdoors!
To apply, please send your CV and reference number SDS/FS/324426, along with your personal paragraph, to recruitment@sdsoptionsfife.org.uk or post to: SDS Options (Fife), DPHS Fife, Caledonia House, Pentland Park, Saltire Centre, Glenrothes, Fife, KY6 2AL
