Exciting Chef Opportunity in a Unique, Fast-Paced Location
Are you a passionate chef with a flair for delivering excellence in a bustling, ever-changing environment? Exeter Airport’s
catering team is searching for a skilled, enthusiastic professional to help shape the dining experiences of travellers from across
the globe. If you thrive on early starts, dynamic challenges, and being part of a close-knit team, this is the role for you.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Step into a role where your culinary expertise and dedication will truly make a difference. As a member of our kitchen brigade,
you’ll work side-by-side with our experienced Kitchen Manager, contributing to a variety of food & beverage outlets throughout the
airport. From sunrise breakfasts to last-minute snacks for departing passengers, you’ll ensure that every dish meets our high
standards for quality, safety, and presentation.
Note: Due to shift start times as early as 2:00 AM—and no public transport available at that hour—personal transport is essential.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
* Prepare and present food to exacting standards, following established recipes and procedures
* Assist in the smooth operation and food delivery across all airport catering outlets
* Maintain impeccable cleanliness and organisation in kitchen and storage areas
* Monitor stock rotation, reporting waste or items approaching expiry
* Receive and safely store deliveries, ensuring all hygiene protocols are followed
* Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, reporting maintenance needs promptly
* Support with stock taking and kitchen administrative duties as required
* Uphold food safety, health & safety, and COSHH standards at all times
* Collaborate with your team to deliver efficient, seamless service regardless of the hour
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Essential:
* BTEC or NVQ Level 2 in Hospitality or Professional Cookery (or equivalent)
* Minimum 1 year’s experience in a professional kitchen within a fast-paced environment
* Strong understanding of food hygiene and health & safety regulations
* Experience in stock control and adhering to production standards
* Flexible and dependable—willing to work weekends, early mornings, or the occasional evening
Desirable:
* Level 2 Food Safety Certificate
* First Aid at Work qualification
* Familiarity with menu planning and costings
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills
