This is an exciting opportunity to join Renfrewshire’s Children’s Services Social Work as a Team Manager. You will lead on and promote effective service delivery and provide high-quality support and supervision to workers based in our Children and Families Team. Renfrewshire’s Children’s Services is focused on achieving the best possible outcomes for our children and young people. We are dedicated to creating an environment where social work practice can thrive, where social work teams are encouraged to be innovative and creative to ensure the services we offer to children and families help improve their lives.

Following a recent service redesign, our Children and Families Team have bases in Renfrew and Johnstone and work with families across the authority who require medium to longer term support. Our teams have been set up to provide a service which is better able to effectively respond to needs at the earliest stage and to deliver purposeful and time-limited interventions aimed at keeping more children safely in the care of their families. To do this, we have created a service with greater management capacity, stronger scrutiny and quality assurance, and more resource targeted at early intervention and family-based supports. We want to make sure our service is fit for the future and has the flexibility and capacity to meet new challenges.

As one of our Team Managers, you will lead a dedicated team of social workers, overseeing professional practice, staff supervision, and effective deployment of resources. You will be responsible for managing risk and budgets, ensuring that children's plans are regularly reviewed, closely monitored, and actively progressed.

In addition to operational leadership, you will contribute to strategic developments across the social work service, taking the lead on delegated projects as required. Your role will be pivotal in driving continuous improvement and delivering positive outcomes for children and families.

As a Team Manager, you will be instrumental in fostering a culture of excellence in social work practice. You will lead with strength and compassion, ensuring that our social workers feel supported, empowered, and equipped to deliver high-quality services. Through your nurturing leadership, you will cultivate an environment where professional growth thrives, enabling our teams to achieve meaningful and lasting outcomes for children, young people, and their families.

You will be an integral part of the Frontline Services Management Team and will support the effective delivery of service in line with legislation, guidance, policies, and procedures for Children’s Social Work Services, both locally and nationally. You will have significant operational experience and knowledge of the broad landscape of contemporary social work practice. You will be able to demonstrate that you can model, promote, and deliver best practice within your team, embedding quality assurance and improvement.

You will share our key commitment to our practitioners in terms of their professional support, learning and development. Your own practice will be aligned to the trauma-informed, relationship and strengths-based practice that underpins our work.
A Degree level qualification (Degree in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work (DipSw) or equivalent) is essential.

You must have proven experience of leading and managing a service or team in line with professional standards and codes of practice, partnership working and delivering outcomes with partners. A thorough understanding of children and families/ justice social work services in a local authority setting is required. Working knowledge of legislation and best practice, effective leadership, interpersonal, written and communication skills including the ability to produce reports on complex issues is also essential.

*Please note applications will only be accepted from qualified social workers who fully meet the post criteria, who are already registered with SSSC and are able to work in the UK.

If successful, you will be required to undertake a PVG, the level of check will be determined by the duties of the post. If you would like further information in relation to the Disclosure Scotland checks, please visit www.disclosurescotland.co.uk.
