Summary

Are you looking for a finance business partnering role where you can help deliver new home schemes and shape the financial plans for the Housing & HRA (Housing Revenue Account) service?

If so, we are looking to recruit a Finance Business Partner who will report to the Head of Business Partnering for this area. The role is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Housing & HRA finance business partnering team and will support the Housing and HRA service area with their financial planning, including monitoring and support for key transformation programmes including new build schemes.

You will be joining the Council at an exciting time as it continues its improvement journey having exited intervention in March 2024 after only a two-year period. We have been shortlisted in the ‘Most Improved Council’ category at this year’s June 2025 Local Government Chronicle (LGC) Awards. In January 2024, the Local Government Minister praised Sandwell Council’s “significant improvements” and a “step change in the way in which the council has organised itself and its approach to governance”.

You will be a qualified accountant with experience of finance business partnering and have knowledge of the Housing Revenue Account (HRA).

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to build on the already established relationship with senior managers within the Place directorate, specifically supporting Housing & HRA, where you will provide financial advice and support, including budget planning, budget monitoring and closure of accounts. Providing consistent and high-quality standards across the Finance function is the aim, with the Council committed to ensuring staff are trained with the appropriate skills.
