The Role & Responsibilities:
The Independent Living Manager (ILM) will work as part of a team to provide support and effective housing management services across all our sheltered housing schemes and properties. The role focuses on maintaining high standards of accommodation, ensuring tenant safety and well being, supporting the tenants to live independently and manage their tenancy within a safe and secure environment. The ILM will be manage the sheltered properties including letting empty properties, conducting inspections and coordinating any repairs or maintenance that is necessary.


Who We Are Looking For:
We are looking for an individual who can:
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with health, social care and voluntary agencies to improve services for residents and to promote the Independent Living Service.
- Monitor, report and deal with any breaches of tenancy agreements accordance with policies and procedures. Also to deal with complaints, tenancy disputes and antisocial behaviour. Work with Senior Housing Officer to help prepare papers for court where necessary.
- To have a proactive and compassionate approach to supporting our tenants.
- To take responsibility for the security and safety of our schemes and properties to the agreed level. This will include undertaking checks to fire and call alarm systems or equipment and taking responsibility for contacting the appropriate agencies to deal with any defects or maintenance.
- Ensure tenants are kept informed with any service delivery arrangements or changes and that effective feedback is given in response to any questions.
- Relevant experience of housing, debt and tenancy law or experience of working in a similar related field desirable.
- Be responsible for ensuring accurate recording of notes across all relevant council systems. To have excellent IT skills including Word, Outlook and Excel.
- An ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines. prioritise tasks and manage workload by effective time management.
- An ability to communicate clearly and effectively with customers, both in written and verbal form, adapting style and approach to meet the needs of a diverse community.
- The ability to build effective relationships with Officers and the wider Housing team.
- GCSE English and Maths Grade C or above (Grades 4 – 9) or equivalent.

Due to the nature of this role, the successful applicant will be required to undertake an Enhanced DBS check as part of their pre-employment clearances.  

A full, clean and valid UK driving license and use of a motor vehicle for business use is required for this role.

This role includes being part of the out of hours service on a rota basis (in line with service requirements).
