The Economic Development and Regeneration Service is recognised corporately and politically as having a core role to play in the future financial / commercial sustainability of the Council. More than ever regeneration is at the forefront of Council service delivery in ensuring that places evolve, new development is realised, commercial incomes from Council owned assets are maximised and funding opportunities are prioritised. This is reflected by the number of projects and activities the team is currently involved in. In addition to the regeneration workstreams the team has a wide portfolio of other services to manage including business support and engagement, car parks, markets, economic development, strategic tourism, electric vehicle charging and a couple of enterprise spaces and flexible town centre workspace.
Working at a senior level within the regeneration/development industry is an essential requirement for this role. As the Head of Service, you will be responsible for work programming activity, managing a team of people and delivering the service within budget. Creative and innovative solutions to funding will be a core activity to attract investment into the town. You will report to the Assistant Director of Growth and Regeneration and be part of a directorate management team that cuts across other relevant service areas such as Planning, Environmental Health and Tamworth Castle. You will have a flair for improving services and the ability to manage change. To be successful in this role, you will need to have strong leadership abilities and management capability. You will use your negotiation and excellent communication skills to forge strong partnerships and work collaboratively with stakeholders, colleagues and Members.

The duties of this role include a requirement to take part in an on-call rota, approximately six times per year.
