Estimator

Exciting opportunity to join a Leading £1bn+ Tier 1 Main Contractor in their London division, focusing on the Commercial & Healthcare sectors.

About the role of Estimator

This is a rare opportunity with a £1bn+ Tier 1 Main Contractor, currently looking for an experienced mid level Estimator to join their London division.

We are a privately owned business, with some of the strongest financials in the industry, being around for 20+ years. As a business, we operate across the Commercial, Cut & Carve, New Build, Data Centres, Education, Health & Residential sectors, but within the London division we specifically work across the Commercial & Healthcare sectors so we are looking for someone with Commercial AND/OR Healthcare experience in particular.

As Estimator, you will be working on projects typically valued between £40m - £200m, mainly two stage tenders and cost plans, using Conquest software. You will be working alongside 5 Estimators within the London division, and about 12 Estimators altogether across each division within the business in a really nice, friendly atmosphere.

Responsibilities for Estimator

  • Develop detailed cost plans
  • Assist in preparing initial budget estimates for feasibility or client early engagement
  • Interpret client briefs and design intent to produce competitive and realistic pricing
  • Identify early stage risks, pricing assumptions and exclusions
  • Send out subcontractor enquiries, review and analyse returns and recommend preferred partners
  • Develop & maintain detailed pricing build ups and comparisons
  • Identify, liaise with and manage specialist subcontractors and suppliers for pricing input
  • Issue, track and manage RFQs (requests for quotation)
  • Work closely with design managers, planners and temporary works team to ensure pricing reflects buildability, programme and logistics constraints
  • Assist in preparing commercial submission documents, cost breakdowns, and tender clarifications
  • Participate in bid debriefs and post tender reviews

Requirements for Estimator

  • 6+ years of Estimating experience
  • Commercial experience / Healthcare also beneficial but not necessary
  • Experience working on two stage tenders & cost plans
  • Longevity at previous employment
  • Previously worked for a tier 1 main contractor or a reputable tier 2
  • Happy to travel into London 5 days a week (WFH available on ADHOC basis)
