Job OverviewTo undertake earthing system and electrical design activities for the design of power cable systems, overhead structures, substation electrical plant and layout design up to and including 132kV.
Main Duties
-Coordinante project requirements at design stage with our civil, electrical, protection & control designers
-Undertake earthing design including soil reisitivity surveys, modelling of earthing systems using CDEGS, produce detailed reports and designs and undertake post construction fall of potential testing
-Undertake the detailed design to power cable route layouts, trench sections, joint ay design, cable thermal rating calculations, cable pulling tension calculations.
-Understanding of EHV cable bonding arrangements
-Provide substation plant & earthing layouts up to and including 132kV
-Heating, lighting and ventilation design to switch and control rooms plus the ability to undertake calculations to prove the requirements from the first principles
-Ensure design compliance with Health & Safety at Work acr, Electrictiy at Work, ESQCR and CDM regulation
-Have an excellent working knowledge of the plant and system utilised on electrical infrastructure projects covering substations( secondary distribution up to 132kV), underground cable installations up to and including 132kV and overhead lines up to and including 132kV.
-Eecellent understanding of the standards and specifications used within the industry
-Good communication skills and excellent team player
-Provide multicore cable layouts and cable containment designs (Desirable)
-Undertake the design of the bus bar and plant support structures including the specification os bus bars and clamps (Desirable)
-Tripping/ closing battery and SCADA battery sizing assessments (Desirable)
-Knowledge of prortection schemes and relay grading/setting (Desirable)
What we are looking for
-Have a detailed understanding of how power systems are constructed, operated, maintained and decommissioned.
-Have a detailed understanding of power cable construction and installation methodologies.
-Have a detailed understating of substation electrical plant & equipment
-Have existing demonstrable primary electrical design and earthing design experience with regard to DNO & private networks operating up to 132kV.
-The ability to take an outline project scope document, review and understand how this translates in to the detailed design requirements.
-Possess a flexible approach to overcoming difficulties and getting the job done.
-Ability to analyse, take ownership and solve problems.
-Have good time management skills and be able to prioritise multiple tasks
-Proficient in the use of AutoCAD.
-Fully conversant with the CDEGS earthing design software package.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR THIS POST
- Relevant, demonstrable industry experience essential.
-Degree / HNC / HND or equivalent in a relevant discipline is desirable.
-IOSH Managing Safely in Construction is desirable.
