The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Community Casual Facilities Assistant to join our Facilities Team. The position will require the successful candidate to work at The Campus site, which includes Herons’ Moor Academy, Bay Tree School, Locking Castle Children’s Centre and leisure and library facilities. The post may also require providing facilities support to other NSC sites on occasion. You will join an existing Facilities Services team and report directly to the facility services manager.
Successful applicants must have previous customer service experience and strong communication skills. Basic knowledge of Health and Safety in the workplace is also essential with first-hand experience of safe manual handling. Previous experience of building maintenance and general repairs would be desirable but is not essential.
Applicants must hold a full UK driving license as you will be required to use a fleet vehicle on occasion.

Key Responsibilities:
Working as part of a team, your hours will be worked on a shift basis and will include evenings and weekends.
Key responsibilities of the position would include the following activities:
• Answering radio calls and responding to emails from Campus staff relating to daily issues such as building faults, waste removal, room set ups.
• Ensuring correct disposal of waste in compliance with NSC guidelines and in line with the ISO14001 environmental standard. Duties include separation of general recycling materials such as plastic and cardboard and safe disposal of hazardous waste such as yellow bag waste.
• Undertaking of regular building checks and planned maintenance such as daily plant room inspections, weekly fire alarm testing and monthly fire extinguisher audits.
• First line maintenance to include activities such as lamp replacements, unblocking toilets, putting up noticeboards and assembling furniture.
• Reporting of building faults via our Facilities Helpdesk and following up on tasks logged to ensure works have been completed in a timely manner.
• Carry out site safety checks and undertake porterage duties.
• Ensure all external contractors used are appropriately vetted and approved via Campus policies ahead of any works commencing. Induct all contractors who come to site, provide clear instructions, issue permits as required and supply blue Hi-Vis vests as required.

This position is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
Valid driving licence and own transport, or be able to provide alternative, suitable method of travel is an essential condition for this role.
