Hybrid working: This is flexible- working at home or in our office with a minimum of one day per week in Cambridge on site.
The role:
To help ensure the council’s Communications and Engagement work runs smoothly each day. This includes supporting both internal and external communications. You'll work closely with others in the Communications and Engagement Team, as well as teams across the council.
As a key part of the Communications and Engagement Team, you'll work alongside Communications Officers to plan and deliver communications for different teams and projects. This includes creating content for various channels such as social media, websites, e-newsletters, resident magazines, posters, and more.
You’ll also be a first point of contact for questions from inside and outside the council, including those that come through social media or the media. The role also involves helping with day-to-day admin tasks to support the team’s work.
Key accountabilities:
Provide the initial contact for enquiries (both internal and external) that arrive into the Communications and Engagement Team’s email inbox.
Ensure requests are clearly understood, take ownership and responsibility for ensuring details are logged on the team’s work planner, allocated and solved.
Use the Financial Management System to raise and receipt purchase orders for the supply of goods and services, checking and coding invoices for payment, making procurement card purchases ensuring the timely and accurate monthly reconciliation.
Monitor, log, share and analyse media coverage. Create, maintain, input and update records, spreadsheets and databases ensuring a high degree of accuracy, extracting data for management reports, including the retention and archiving of existing files.
Monitoring the council’s corporate social media accounts and working with the Communications and Engagement Team and colleagues across the council to engage with feedback and respond to queries received.
Support the council’s internal communications, publishing news for colleagues on the intranet and supporting other internal communications activities, such as delivering all staff Town Halls, in person staff engagement activities and creating leadership vlogs
Under the guidance of the Communications Officers, work with services to plan, create, edit and publish written and multi-media content for multiple existing and emerging channels including websites and e-newsletters; social media; residents’ magazines; out of home campaigns; local media.
Provide reports utilising measurement and analysis of the internal and external communications and engagement in order to guide improvements to outputs and to inform strategic decision making
Key criteria:
Experience writing for different audiences with good attention to detail to ensure high levels of accuracy
Creating engaging content for different channels using a variety of media, including photography
Working in a communications, marketing or PR administration role and using a wide range of internal and external communications channels.
Strong administrative support background.
Experience monitoring social media channels.
Experience of analysing, measuring and evaluating communications.
