Are you an experienced mental health nurse with a passion for innovation in dementia care?

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Clinical Lead Nurse to join the Brain Health Centre (BHC) – a pioneering joint clinical-research initiative between Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust and the University of Oxford.

The BHC is transforming memory clinic services by embedding research into clinical practice, improving access to high-quality assessments, and enhancing opportunities for patients and families to participate in research. This is a unique opportunity to lead a forward-thinking team and shape the future of cognitive health services.

Main duties of the job

The responsibilities include:

  • Provide expert clinical leadership and day-to-day oversight of the Brain Health Centre.
  • To work clinically across the Oxfordshire memory clinics supporting patient care and the role of the Brain Health Centre Assistant Psychologists. 
  • Conduct comprehensive reviews and triage of referrals to the BHC.
  • Facilitate structured, person-centred care and ensure high standards of clinical practice.
  • Promote collaborative working with patients, families, and partner services.

Person specification Qualifications Essential criteria
  • Degree or post graduate qualification and registration in nursing
Desirable criteria
  • Post registration qualification in relevant subject
Knowledge Essential criteria
  • Experience of working with people and their families with dementia or cognitive difficulties
  • Evidence of up-to-date knowledge of the impact of pharmacological interventions on Older People.
  • Able to carry out evidenced based assessments and framework to understand behaviour, risks, and needs.
  • Evidence of community Mental Health Practice.
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of the clinical research landscape
Experience Essential criteria
  • Significant experience working with older people/memory clinic experience
  • Evidence of effective working with older people with mental health issues.
  • To understand and have experience of risk management.
  • Experience in user and carer involvement.
  • Evidence of ability to manage, supervise and direct a multidisciplinary team and support staff as appropriate.
  • Evidence of previous leadership experience.
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of developing standards, clinical protocols, procedures and guidelines.
  • Evidence of project work Experience in the clinical research field.
