We're looking for a Finance Planning and Reporting Manager to join our Finance team in Manchester. In this role, you'll support our Food business area to deliver proactive financial planning, analysis, and reporting. We'll look to you to make sure all strategies, initiatives, risks, and opportunities are accurately reflected in future plans. You'll also co-ordinate with colleagues across the wider Finance team to support them in the delivery of planning activity for our end-to-end business performance. This is a hybrid role, and you'll split your time between home and the office (find out more about our hybrid working policy at https://jobs.coop.co.uk/hybrid-working-policy)

What you'll do

  • Lead our financial planning and analysis activity related to cash and capital, for both reporting and forecasting
  • Work closely with colleagues across Co-op to develop reporting and analysis, including month-end reporting and in-year outturn
  • Be accountable for liaising, collaborating, and communicating with colleagues across our wider Finance team, making sure that profit and loss, impacts and risks and opportunities are understood and reflected in the budget and forecast
  • Co-ordinate the delivery of forecasting, providing appropriate commentary and explanations with insight
  • Challenge performance and forecasts, driving a clear understanding of performance drivers and improvements in forecast accuracy
  • Establish the underlying drivers of business performance through focused analysis, and make recommendations based on your findings
  • Collaborate with teams across Co-op to help create a shared understanding of finance
  • Identify and explore opportunities to improve our financial planning and analysis activity, keeping up-to-date with the latest market trends and developments

This role would suit people who have

  • An accountancy qualification (e.g., ACA, CIMA, ACCA)
  • Experience working on Cash and Capital, for both reporting and forecasting
  • Experience working with senior leadership teams
  • Good cross-functional communication and collaboration skills
  • Good knowledge of finance systems and processes, including general ledger and BI tools
  • The ability to balance priorities in a complex and fast-paced and ever-changing business environment

Why Co-op?

If you've got the skills and experience we're looking for, we can offer you a competitive salary and great benefits package which includes 30% off Co-op branded products in our food stores (as well as other discounts on Co-op products and services). You'll also get:

  • Private healthcare
  • 28 days holiday pro-rata plus bank holidays
  • A pension with up to 10% employer contributions
  • Access to a subsidised onsite gym (at our Manchester HQ)
  • Coaching and training to support your career development
  • Wagestream - a money management app that gives you access to a percentage of your pay as you earn it
  • Grocery Aid - 24/7 access to a range of emotional, financial, and practical support services for you and your family
