Summary
As part of the clinical team within the Emergency Department, the Trainee Emergency Nurse / Care Practitioner (Band 6) will work under supervision to develop the skills needed to assess, diagnose and treat patients presenting with minor injuries across the age spectrum, including adults and paediatrics. While the post holder will initially have a limited scope of practice, they will be supported by the clinical team to develop extended competencies, including complex wound care, limb reductions, and management of thoracic and pelvic injuries, through a structured clinical development programme. This role offers protected time and support to continue professional development, including the completion of non-medical prescribing modules. The Band 7 role builds on this foundation, encompassing minor illness management and, where appropriate, supporting care within that stream. Band 7 practitioners will be expected to close the patient journey by holding a Non-Medical Prescribing qualification. See the full Job Description for further details.
