Summary
The main duties of the Assistant Cook is to work closely with the Head Cook to ensure the smooth, and effective operation of the catering department and to be accountable for all aspects of organization within the Kitchen in the absence of the Head Cook. The post holder must ensure that all meals offered are to a high standard and are well presented. Knowledge of IDDSI and dysphagia would be advantageous.
We have 35 hours available, Monday to Friday 06:30 - 14:00, the successful applicant may be asked to cover on weekends occasionally in the absence of the Head Cook.
Duties may include but are not limited to:
• Ensure that all required records are kept in line with the homes policies and procedures and environmental regulations.
• To prepare meals following the home's planned menus.
• To demonstrate an understanding of special dietary requirements and allergens.
• To oversee the work of catering assistants and ensure high standards are maintained.
• To be responsible for ensuring good hygiene practices and cleanliness of all catering areas.
• To be aware of and at all times adhere to C.O.S.H.H. regulations regarding the use and storage of all chemical agents.
• To maintain total confidentiality regarding service users and their medical conditions.
