Southwark – Qualified Social Worker – Safeguarding - £33.76
To provide a front-line safeguarding response to adults with care and support needs who may be at risk of abuse or neglect.
The postholder will work within the OPPD Contact Team, acting as a first point of contact for safeguarding referrals, undertaking Section 42 (Care Act 2014) screenings and enquiries, and ensuring proportionate and timely risk assessments and interventions are in place to safeguard adults in line with statutory duties.
Key Responsibilities Safeguarding Triage & Enquiries Respond to safeguarding concerns raised via the Contact Team. Complete initial screenings in line with Section 42 criteria to determine whether statutory safeguarding duties apply.
Coordinate and lead safeguarding enquiries, working in partnership with individuals, families, care providers, and other agencies. Apply a Making Safeguarding Personal (MSP) approach that focuses on outcomes and the person’s wishes and views.
Assessment & Risk Management Undertake Care Act-compliant assessments of need and risk where safeguarding is identified. Identify immediate risks and take proportionate protective action in collaboration with emergency services, health partners, or housing where necessary.
Contribute to the planning of protection plans and support the adult throughout the enquiry process. Multi-Agency Working Liaise with internal services (e.g. Mental Health, Hospital Teams, A&I) and external agencies (e.g. Police, CQC, Providers, Housing).
Attend and lead strategy meetings and case conferences where required. Share safeguarding intelligence in accordance with GDPR and local information-sharing protocols. Recording & Compliance Maintain accurate, timely, and professional case records on the adult social care system (e.g., LAS, Mosaic).
Produce safeguarding reports and documentation in line with legal and statutory requirements. Contribute to Safeguarding Adults Boards (SAB) audits and quality assurance processes.
Practice & Development Keep up to date with safeguarding legislation, Care Act guidance, case law, and best practice. Support the development of junior staff or students where appropriate. Participate in reflective supervision and case audits.

Essential Requirements:
Degree/Masters in Social Work and SWE registration.
2+ years of post-qualification experience.
Strong knowledge of UK social care legislation and practice.
