About the job.
We are looking to recruit a strategic Senior HR Business Partner to join our team to partner with the organisation to influence, lead and embed the people strategy for National Highways. Partnering with senior business leaders, you will identify and translate key business priorities into strategic people plans, empowering Senior Leaders to create a high performing culture. You will also be undertaking key strategic HR activities such as leading on and influencing change, analysing key business Management Information and supporting the implementation of HR projects and organisational change and transformation.
Please note this is a hybrid position (40% office based) and can be based from any of our UK offices however it will include regular travel to our Birmingham office to attend team meetings.
- Translate business strategy and priorities into Directorate-level strategic people plans that are fully aligned with National Highways People Strategy.
- Provide input to business strategy and organisation design to ensure that structures, roles and responsibilities enable delivery and contribute to a high-performance culture.
- Leverage strong business knowledge and understanding to partner and provide strategic, insightful and constructive challenge to business leaders and HR, where appropriate.
- Proactively represent HR within leadership teams, acting as a role model and ambassador for the organisational values and behaviours.
- Coach and develop senior leaders on business-wide HR initiatives, including managing and developing talent, cultural change and employee engagement.
- Partner and coach managers to support the delivery of people plans and initiatives and encourage a culture of line manager responsibility and accountability for front line human resources.
- Coordinate the deployment of the relevant HR skills and expertise from across the wider HR team to bring the right people solutions together.
- Empower business leaders to lead their teams and deliver business transformation, aligning ways of working to create a high-performance culture.
About you.
- Senior HR Business Partnering experience of working in a complex organisation, up to and including Executive Director level, and an understanding of regional and functional HR requirements.
- Experience of working in a unionised environment
- Demonstrable experience of aligning People strategy and services with business strategy and needs.
- Prior Human Resources management / leadership experience in leading teams.
- A Master's degree, preferably in HR, Business Administration, a related field or commensurate professional experience.
- Member of Professional body (e.g. MCIPD etc.)
- Clear understanding of current employment law and best practices.
- Ability to assess strategic, transactional, and tactical processes and drive continuous improvement.
