Salary:£24,088 per year Hours: 37 hours per week, 9.00 - 16.30 Monday to Friday, with flexibility from 8am - 8pm if required Job type:Permanent About the service: The aim of the YBM project is to promote empowerment, increase resilience and help address some of the issues that affect young Black men aged 1130 and their families. The Young Black Men project offers group and one-to-one support. It is free to access, delivered across schools, community spaces and places of worship, and designed to be culturally appropriate. The project accepts both self-referrals, parent/carer referrals and professional referrals. It also provides opportunities to work in partnership with other groups and organisations working with young Black men and their families. Key responsibilities: Build trusted relationships with young Black men and their families in local communities. To design and effectively deliver outreach services for young people and adults, between the ages of 11-30 years (and their families) as the primary group. To hold a caseload of people to deliver 1:1 support to, effectively managing all contact and correspondence with the supervision of the Team Leader/Service Manager. Deliver mental health and wellbeing support that is culturally relevant and responsive. Educate and empower individuals and communities to reduce stigma around mental health. Work alongside our wider CYP and community teams to ensure that services are accessible, respectful and effective. To ensure that those accessing the YBM Project are put at the heart of the support, and we empower them to use their voices proactively, including via social media platforms. Be aware and responsible for growing, learning and understanding the cultural needs of young Black men and their families, through various sources. Essential requirements: Lived experience or deep understanding of the challenges and strengths within Black communities. Experience working directly with young people and/or families in community or youth settings. Confidence facilitating honest, culturally grounded conversations about mental health. Knowledge of how systemic and cultural issues affect the wellbeing of young Black men. Experience of working with people who are from isolated communities. Experience of delivering services within an urban and ethnically diverse context, developing and delivering interventions to these groups. A commitment to inclusion, empowerment and community connection. The flexibility to adapt your hours to best support young people (within our 8am - 8pm service). A driving License and access to a vehicle (You will require valid business insurance).
