About the role
We are seeking a reliable and proactive Caretaker to join our team, to help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all. As a Caretaker, you will play a key role in the day-to-day upkeep and smooth running of the college premises.
Your responsibilities will include:
Opening and securing college buildings
General maintenance of the site
Setting up rooms for events, exams, and classes
Ensuring cleanliness and tidiness of communal areas
Supporting health and safety procedures
Assisting with deliveries and porterage duties
Working with our estates and facilities team
About the person
The successful candidate will be a practical person who is able to spot a problem and find a solution, as well as being reliable, punctual, and able to work independently. You need to be friendly and approachable, with good communication skills. You will need to be flexible with working hours as some evening/weekend work may be required. Experience in a similar caretaking or facilities role is desirable but not essential.
You will need to have:
Basic IT skills or a willingness to undertake training
A valid UK driving licence.
Health & Safety training (e.g. COSHH, Manual Handling, First Aid)
Level 2 qualification in Facilities Services or equivalent
Experience using maintenance tools and equipment
Knowledge of safeguarding and working in an educational environment
