Role Overview
The Workforce Development Manager will report directly to Corporate Director for HR Operations. In this role, you will be responsible for:
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Workforce Development: Support the development of a workforce strategy that supports long-term growth and ensures MaPS has the capability to deliver its strategic goals.
- Early Careers & Apprenticeships: Establish partnerships with educational institutions to develop talent pipelines. Oversee the design and delivery of apprenticeship and graduate programmes.
- Capability & Career Frameworks: Develop job families and frameworks to support career progression and internal mobility. Collaborate with functions heads to define capability requirements.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration: Work closely with HR colleagues and senior leaders to align HR initiatives and identify skills gaps. Engage in meaningful collaborations to enhance workforce strategies.
- Continuous Improvement & Innovation: Stay abreast of industry trends to evolve workforce development strategies. Promote a culture of continuous learning and inclusion.
- Reporting & Governance: Generate insightful reports on workforce development outcomes for senior leadership and governance boards.
To excel in this role, you will need to demonstrate:
- Proven experience in workforce development, talent management, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of career development frameworks and apprenticeship programmes.
- Experience implementing HR practices and methodologies with a flexible and iterative approach.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Leadership skills with a focus on collaboration and problem-solving.
- Strong analytical skills with a data-informed approach to decision-making.

Flexible Working
At MaPS, we take pride in our flexible approach to work. As standard, we work on a hybrid basis with a minimum of 2 days in the office per week. Hybrid working is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and our headquarters in Bedford will be your contractual place of work. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business needs, but personal and other relevant circumstances will also be considered. If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working, including whether a hybrid working arrangement is suitable for you, will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.
Career Development
