Crynodeb
Reporting is undertaken on a rota basis and the appointee will be expected to share equitably in histopathology and cytopathology work. The configuration of responsibilities will be reviewed from time to time and the appointee will be expected to work with consultant colleagues to provide a reliable and expeditious service. Cellular pathology labs are situated at both University Hospital Lewisham (UHL) and Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) sites. Histology processing and histology and non-gynae cytology reporting are undertaken at both sites whilst cytology processing is based at UHL only. The post holder will have their own office within the department and their own modern consultant standard microscope with a teaching sidearm. The seating and microscope are of ergonomic design, in keeping with RCPath guidelines. Each consultant office includes a computer which is linked to the hospital network, with internet and e-mail facilities. Full secretarial support is offered. A digital dictation system is used but voice recognition technology is not employed. Digital image reporting is under development but not currently available within the department. A consultant is designated to lead for each MDTM. Meetings are currently shared among consultants equally by general agreement. There is participation in weekly lung, gynae, breast, skin, head & neck and gastrointestinal cancer meetings and a fortnightly colposcopy meeting. See attached JD
