About the roleTo be responsible for the learning and achievement of pupils in instrumental lessons, ensuring equality of opportunity for all and being accountable for achieving the highest possible standards in work and conductSet high expectations so that all students are inspired, motivated and challenged to reach their full potential, and in doing so meet their progress and attainment targetsPlan and teach well-structured, lessons that are aligned to the agreed curriculum and cultivate every student’s intellectual curiosityPlan, resource, arrange music for and deliver interactive and inspiring instrumental lessons for individual students and small ensemblesProvide stimulating extracurricular opportunities for students and the wider school community, such as leading and support music rehearsals and performancesUse data to inform teaching and learning, identify areas for intervention and provide feedback to students, staff and families in order to promote progress and outcomesManage behaviour effectively to create a safe, respectful and nurturing environment so that students can focus on learningWork collaboratively with both school and network colleagues as a committed team member, building successful, high performing teamsParticipate actively throughout the network, by attending relevant meetings, and, as appropriate, delivering network-wide training and initiativesWork with colleagues, students and families to develop a strong school communityCasual contract, with hours being worked during term-time only Salary & Benefits£37.60 total per hour (£33.55 per hour, plus holiday pay £4.05)Access to Local Government Pension SchemeRegional networks of Trust colleagues and access to key leaders in EducationCommitment to employee Health and Wellbeing including dedicated Employee Assistance ProgrammeAwards and Recognition SchemeFlexible working patternsBenefits Platformholiday discountscinema ticketsrestaurant booking discountsCycle to Work Scheme Who we are looking forQualified to Grade 8 (or equivalent) in at least one musical instrumentAbility to play your instrument to a high level is essential; experience with other instruments in the family is highly desirableDemonstrable commitment to raising attainment of all pupils regardless of needsExcellent understanding of both subject and general teaching pedagogyUp to date knowledge of styles of music relevant to instrumentsAble to create and adapt musical arrangements in a variety of styles and genresExperience of leading rehearsals and performancesEffective and systematic behaviour management.
