Summary

Maldon District Council is seeking a technical support officer to join our busy and dynamic Planning Department within the Enforcement Service on a permanent, full-time basis.

You should have a good level of administrative skills, including working with and maintaining systems, and general correspondence. Working with customers will be a key part of this role. It would be an advantage to have some knowledge of the Town Planning legislation and how the town planning system works.

This is a great opportunity to start your professional development in planning enforcement, be part of a team and take on new challenges.

Working at the Council enables you to be part of an organisation which is proud to deliver high-quality, customer focused services. Our success comes from us being commercially astute and business-like. Continuous improvement is also vital, and we challenge ourselves to develop new and innovative ways to improve the services that make a real difference to people’s lives.

This role forms part of our positive hybrid ways of working and therefore offers some opportunity to work between home and the office. The role also enables the post holder to visit attractive areas around the Maldon District whilst carrying out site visits as part of the responsibilities of the role.

About this role

The role is the backbone of the planning enforcement service, being the technical support for the five officers and the Head of Service in the team.

The post holder will be dealing with customers and elected Members and will be expected to work on their own initiative in a professional manner, creating new enforcement cases, if necessary, updating customers and managing the team’s correspondence via the team email inbox.

The post holder will be using the planning service and corporate systems so should be proficient in the use of technology.
