Job Overview
-Primarily responsible for assisting management to ensure that Mitie / OPC Contractor operations are carried out in a safe and efficient manner.
-Implementing the integrated business management system; ensuring a robust and efficient system is maintained, which complies with the requirements of the business and third-party quality, health, safety and environmental accreditations.
-Identifying and minimising the risk of accidents to persons, property or the environment.
-Supporting all parts of the QHSE function when required including investigations, meetings, audits and training as a minimum to ensure that the QHSE function across OPC Contract is efficient and pragmatic as possible.
Main Duties
-Assist with the development and delivery of in-house quality, health and safety and environmental training packages, inductions, toolbox talks to identified personnel within the company.
-Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of legislation and codes of practice applicable to the company's business.
-Support OPC Contractor operational / delivery managers to ensure personnel have the appropriate technical competence to work safely by the identification and provision of formal training needs.
-Assist the OPC Contractor operational / delivery managers with the identification and development of practical and effective safe working practices.
-Provide advice and guidance to OPC Contractor managers and employees on QHSE matters.
-Provide QHSE advice and guidance to OPC Contractor operational / delivery managers on their legal and company responsibilities as required.
-Working with the Health & Safety Manager, or QHSE Manager, carry out or review assessments that are outside the competence of operational managers i.e. Significant Risk, COSHH, DSE and other assessments.
-Manage the Investigation of accidents and incidents and production of statistical information in relation to QHSE performance.
-Working with the OPC Contractor personnel, assist in contract delivery to ensure all QHSE matters have been appropriately considered and controlled.
-Carry out Site Inspections across all elements of OPC Contractor works (including Sub-contractors) ensuring actions identified, followed up and recorded in relevant registers / systems.
-Support the Mitie Project Managers by routine monitoring of QHSE activities on Mitie Self Delivered works and ensure robust reporting, implementation of risk controls, ensuring CDM requirements are identified and implemented.
-Produce QHSE reports as requested by the QHSE Manager or Health & Safety Manager within the requested timeframes.
-Attend meetings as required to represent the QHSE agenda, including Pre-start and In progress site meetings where required.
-In conjunction with the QHSE team establish and support QHSE forums to enable engagement and communication with employees, client and relevant stakeholders.
-Support QHSE Audit activities ie. Corporate audits, Internal Audits, EM02 Activities.
-Develop and maintain the local Mitie IMS in order to access relevant documentation in line with the Mitie UK IMS.
-Attend relevant training courses as part of personal development needs and meeting changing business needs.
-Represent QHSE Manager / Health & Safety Manager as required in their absence.
-Any other reasonable “ad hoc” duties as required by the needs of the business.
What we are looking for
-Must be a highly motivated, proactive, self-disciplined, innovative, loyal and trustworthy individual with extensive experience in a similar role and customer liaison and who has an ability to quickly integrate into a fast-paced environment and rapidly develop highly effective and collaborative relations.
-Must have a meticulous attention to detail and be capable of motivating others to adhere to due process and procedures, whilst personally being focused on achieving local and corporate goals.
-Must be diplomatic and personable and have an ability to communicate effectively at all levels using all available channels and be able to work as part of a team.
-Good standard of written English
-Good standard of written and spoken Greek language (desirable).
-Good verbal communication skills at all levels
-Ability to participate and manage meetings.
-Must be able to work unsupervised and on own initiative and have a flexible approach to work patterns and travelling around sites where required.
-Ability to work as part of a team.
-IT Literate, particularly in Microsoft Office programmes, especially Excel.
-Able to deliver training on a range of subjects to varying abilities.
-Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
-Flexible approach to work patterns and working away or travelling where required
-Must be able to drive in Cyprus (Full / valid driving licence) and gain access to all the Sovereign Bases Areas and the UNFICYP sites in Nicosia.
-Qualifications required (or prepared to attain)
-NEBOSH Certificate / equivalent or above (ideally NEBOSH Diploma)
-Environmental Management (ie. IEMA)
-Quality Management qualifications (ie. Lead Auditor)
-Train the Trainer qualification
-Accident Investigation training
-Experience required
-Experience of Integrated Facilities Management sector, in particular Projects and Hard FM (desirable)
-Experience of multi-site, multi-discipline organisations.
-Detailed knowledge of risk assessment and management for both Health & Safety and Environmental.
