The Nuclear Medicine department at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHSFoundation Trust (NNUH), currently QSI accredited, is looking for a highly motivated,enthusiastic Apprentice Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our multi-disciplinary team and work along other Radiographers/Technologists, Nursing Staff, Admin Staff, Clinical Scientists and Radiology Consultants while demonstrating the NNUH PRIDE values.
The department has three state-of-the-art Symbia Intevo Bold SPECT/CT. The department performs approximately 7,500 examinations per year, offering a wide range of specialist diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine imaging and non-imaging procedures for patients across Norfolk and SuffolkNNUH sits at the centre of acute healthcare delivery, surrounded by the beautiful landscape of the Norfolk Broads and the sweeping, sandy beaches of the Norfolk coastline. The Hospital is close to the vibrant and historical City of Norwich providing entertainment and fantastic shopping facilities.
The trainee will have the opportunity to be in post prior to applying to studya fully funded 3-year BSc (Hons) in Healthcare Science apprenticeship studying at the University of West England (UWE). This degree apprenticeshipis aimed at healthcare workers who wish to develop in the field of medical physics and specialise in Nuclear Medicine.
Fulltime hours: 37.5 per week
Interview date: 23rd May 2025
A relevant level 3 qualification is required to apply to study the degree apprenticeship.
All apprentices must have English and Mathematics qualification equivalent to GCSE Grade C or above. Apprentices without the GCSE (or equivalent) qualifications must achieve them within the first year of their degree.
Accepted level 3 qualifications are listed below.
The candidate must have the Level 3 qualification or be working towards completing it by May 2025.
The apprenticeship will allow you to complete a 3-year BSc (Hons) in Medical Physics (Nuclear Medicine) at the University of West England, Bristol. This 3-year course (from September 2025) will combine face-to-face, work-based, and online learning, with three 5-day blocks at UWE Bristol in each year to attend seminars. During this period, the apprentice will also be given a weekly study day.
Upon completing the degree apprenticeship, all relevant qualifications, and becoming registered with the RCT, the postholder’s grade will be uplifted to Band 5 Nuclear Medicine Technologist position.

Clinical:
Participate in the daily quality control of the gamma camera systems and other nuclear medicine equipment.
To perform general nuclear medicine scans and procedures under the direct supervision of registered radiographers or technologists.
To process images using the relevant SOP’s under the supervision of registered radiographers or technologists
Become and remain competent at image manipulation.
To maintain the high standard of appearance and hygiene expected from members of the Directorate staff and to comply with the uniform policy.
Professional Development:
Communicate to a range of stakeholders including patients and medical staff to ensure a safe and effective working environment
Show evidence of Continued Professional Development. Fulfil mandatory training requirements, in-service and staff development training and take part in the annual appraisal system.
Comply with all relevant Trust policies and procedures.
Report all incidents or accidents involving patients, visitors or staff and ensure complete accurate statements and reports are submitted.
Liaise with the department leads regarding equipment maintenance and faults, ensuring that the correct documentation is completed.

· Applied Biology,

· Applied Science,
· Science in Society,
· Sport and Physical Education,
· Sports Studies.
· T Level– a minimum of pass grade (A-C in core components) in Healthcare Science or Science.
· BTEC Level 4 Diploma in Healthcare Science– including pass grades in unites that relate to the PTP specialism.
· BTEC National Extended Diploma– Grade MMM, including at least on relevant STEM subject.
· Access to Higher Education- (60-credit) Diploma – at least 15 credits must be in STEM-based units and graded merit or above.
