Crynodeb
The following is not an exhaustive or exclusive list of the duties of a consultant. The appointee is expected to: Deliver day-to-day clinical care and leadership on the base geriatric medicine ward or our frailty unit (Amber Ward) Lead the daily board rounds and see new admissions to the base geriatric medicine ward. Develop current geriatric medicine practice and patient pathways within North Middlesex Hospital and in conjunction with Clinical Director to further develop the service in line with best practice. Lead and contribute to the development of clinical guidelines in geriatric medicine, audit and other key aspects of the clinical governance agenda. Show flexibility and undertake different appropriate clinical tasks at the request of the clinical manager, as the need arises. Actively participate in the Departments teaching programme and undertake supervision, teaching and training of medical trainees and other multi-professional staff, in line with guidance from the relevant Royal Colleges or specialty bodies. Actively participate in clinical guidelines development, audit and CPD. Opportunity to develop a speciality interest within or outside of Geriatric Medicine if the post holder has an area of expertise and it is in alignment with the service requirements of the Trust. This is reflected in the diversity of specialty interests held by the 12 consultants in the Dept currently. SPA activities may include: Service Development Geriatric medicine protocols and guidelines Developing joint protocols/pathways and clinical governance with A&E and other specialties Teaching medical students allocated to their ward and to those on the COE firm. Training junior doctors including clinical supervision Individual CME/CPD Any additional SPA activity will be agreed with the post holder and additional Quality and service SPA allocation will be given
