Summary
Gillotts Funeral Directors are looking to recruit a full-time Funeral Assistant. Duties include:
- Being involved on Funerals, handling coffins either by the traditional method of shouldering the coffin or with the assistance of a wheeled bier depending on circumstances. To deal with floral tributes and any other activities that may arise in the carrying out of a funeral.
- To assist in the removal of deceased persons from Hospitals, Care Homes, Private residences, and any other locations were a death has occurred, either during the working day or as part of the on call rota.
- Assisting with the preparation and dressing of the deceased.
- The routine daily maintenance, washing, cleaning and polishing of the vehicles belonging to. The driving of vehicles belonging to the business both on funerals and other duties.
- General cleaning of the non-public areas of the business, and any other general duties as may be required relative to the needs of the business.
Person Specification:
- Smart appearance and professional manner
- Able to deal with manual handling with some heavy lifting involved.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as a part of a team
- Flexible approach to duties.
- Awareness of the need for discretion and confidentiality
- Full driving licence
- Height between 5’8 and 6’0 to fit in with the current bearer team.
Terms of Employment - Initial six month contract from the date of commencing work - permenant position to be considered based upon performance and the workload of the business.
Hours: 8.30 - 4.30 Monday – Friday plus participation in the on call rota.
