Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to provide maternity leave cover for a band 6 Children’s Oncology / Haematology CNS for a fixed term/secondment until 19/05/2026. The CNS will join an established team dedicated to managing cancerand haematology conditions in children; we are a busy service with a caseload working across East Suffolk. You will provide specialist clinical advice and care to children and young people with cancerand haematology conditions.
We are looking for a confident innovative and experienced children’s nurse who will be required to work within a multidisciplinary team providing support to acute and community services. You will need to be a good team player and be able to develop collaborative working relationships with other healthcare professionals, services and agencies.
The post holder will provide a specialist nursing service to children with cancer and haematology conditions and their families, within the Paediatric Oncology Shared Care Unit (POSCU) agreement at Ipswich Hospital. Contributing to service delivery, the Clinical Nurse Specialist will work as part of a multi-professional team, ensuring children with cancer and haematology conditions and their families receive the highest standard of care and support.
Working across acute and community boundaries, the post holder will provide early input of specialist care to children and their families, including rapid review, early intervention, rapid referral back to specialist team and early discharge of children.
The post holder will give advice and implement patient care in an area which requires specific clinical knowledge, skills and experience which will include the development of clinical guidelines, specialist protocols and education programmes.
