Summary
The successful candidate will be based at the Medical School at Queen’s Medical Centre and will support academic research within the group, across multiple volunteer studies, which will include acute and chronic interventions. They will support clinical colleagues to promote the health and well-being of participants during research protocols and provide expertise in and delivery of clinical and human physiology monitoring and assessment techniques. The role holder will support the organisation and delivery of the research studies, including undertaking volunteer recruitment, screening and consenting, to ensure that the studies are completed effectively and efficiently with suitable volunteers.
The post holder will be expected to have a minimum of 2 years’ post qualification nursing or paramedic experience and hold the skills and judgement required to safely execute invasive in vivo human research studies recruiting both ‘healthy’ and patient volunteers. They will be required to demonstrate an ability to recognise potential adverse responses and health issues that may occasionally arise during research studies involving invasive procedures, plus an understanding of how to prevent and respond to these.
The appointee should hold a UK recognised registered nurse or paramedic qualification with at least 2 years post-qualification experience, along with clinical skills, such as IV cannulation, venepuncture and administration of injections. They should be Immediate Life Support (ILS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS) trained.
The post is a full time, permanent (36.25 hours per week) contract. Job share arrangements may be considered.
