Summary


The Christie PET-CT Academy is a leading centre of excellence for educating the full spectrum of professionals operating across PET-CT diagnostic services. Part of The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, the PET-CT Academy operates in partnership with Alliance Medical as part of the National Contract 1 (NC1) Molecular Imaging Collaborative Network (MICN), to provide a skilled workforce to meet ever-increasing patient needs across England. We are committed to delivering high-quality, evidence-based training to advance healthcare outcomes through online, face-to-face, and blended learning.

We are seeking an experienced Learning Designer with a genuine interest in creating engaging, innovative education and an eagerness to explore new technologies. Technical proficiency is a must along with creativity and adaptability in learning design. This is initially a fixed term post for 12 months.

The successful candidate will work closely with our Education Developer to design content that delivers an exceptional learning experience. Your focus will be on creating engaging, interactive online learning experiences, ensuring that our programmes meet the highest standards of instructional design.

Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with our Education Developer and subject matter experts to design engaging, interactive learning content.
• Research and integrate innovative educational design into course content.
• Liaise with internal teams to manage course development timelines.
• Support the review and continuous improvement of our educational offerings.
• Alongside peers, manage, administrate, and maintain the LearnDash Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). This will include the legal and technical upkeep as well as the upkeep of online courses and course areas to support the PET-CT Academy’s educational offerings

The successful candidate will be a member of the wider Christie Institute for Cancer Education Manchester team, with its comprehensive range of educational programmes which meet the needs of healthcare professionals working in cancer care, research and treatment.

Online learning design and implementation


• To design and develop appropriate learning activities, using innovative solutions to create engaging and highly bespoke learning experiences
• With support from the Education Developer, work closely with SMEs, guiding development of their content to ensure that it is educationally sound as well as meeting objectives that are underpinned by a sound evidence base
• Support in developing appropriate assessment opportunities that allow learners to test their understanding, and that provide appropriate and meaningful feedback
• To support on a range of projects and manage individual project from inception to delivery, with the support of the Education Developer
• To utilise and further develop materials to assist the team in project planning and learning development, e.g. creative brief and storyboard documents
• To engage in a robust internal review system which supports continued improvement



Virtual Learning Environment responsibility


• Alongside peers, manage, administrate and maintain the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). This will include the legal and technical upkeep as well as the upkeep of online courses and course areas to support the PET-CT Academy’s educational offerings
• To contribute to the administration of assessment processes with the VLE, ensuring appropriate feedback and reporting processes
• To implement all upgrades to system(s), ensuring compliance with all security and data management issues
• To provide first line technical support and maintenance for the VLE, including the provision of systems administration, support for enrolments, tracking and assessment and site/course configuration
• To design, edit and maintain the content on the VLE ensuring that high standards are met, and sustained at all times
• To manage access rights to the VLE for all users to ensure a high-quality experience, and effective reporting in relation to assessment and tracking



Quality and Governance


• To maintain compliance with copyright and data laws with respect to all created materials
• In conjunction with senior team members, stakeholders and subject matter experts, contribute to the review of content so that it responds to any changes in practice
• To report on a range of KPIs as requested
• To maintain robust data collection, management and reporting mechanisms, in accordance with GDPR



Other


• To keep up to date with relevant professional and technical developments
• Deal with difficult situations in a calm and pleasant manner, taking responsibility to find solutions to complex problems
• Demonstrate the Christie Principles and Behaviours at all times, in line with the Trust Code of Conduct
• Undertake other relevant duties as directed by the Education Developer and/or Programme Manager
