Summary
About the role:
The University of Central Lancashire wishes to recruit a Clinical Skills Technician to join our Technical Services team who provide support to the wide variety of workshops and Clinical facilities at our Burnley campus. The successful candidate will primarily be focused on supporting undergraduate classes and research within our state of the art Clinical facilities based in Burnley, with occasional support in the Preston Campus.
Duties will include the set up and preparation of Clinical laboratories/workshops, providing day to day technical support and advice to staff and to students studying a diverse range of subjects in the Clinical and science area. Although the successful candidate will be required to show flexibility in supporting a number of areas, the primary function for this role is to ensure delivery of a wide range of Clinical courses.
The successful candidate will help coordinate and undertake maintenance and configuration of equipment and relevant software. As well as help with the introduction of new technologies, procedures and practices and be familiar with Clinical instrumentation related to the disciplines.
About you:
Educated to undergraduate degree level in science related subject or equivalent experiential learning in industry, candidates should have experience of preparing, supporting and clearing away Clinical workshop/laboratory environments. Experience in a customer facing technical support role is also essential.
Candidates need to be practical people with a keen interest in science and technology supported by great customer service skills. The ability to adapt knowledge and experience to support staff and students across the wide range of subject disciplines we support would be a distinct advantage. Candidates must also have good verbal and written communication skills.
Applicants need to meet all essential criteria on the person specification to be considered for interview. This position is for 1 day a week and is based in Burnley.
