We offer an exciting opportunity for a specialist in MRI Physics for neuro-applications to support, and lead innovation within our nationally leading Neuroradiology imaging service.

Current facilities include our Siemens Vida (x2), Prisma and Skyra 3T systems, and a 1.5T Aera, including a neurosurgical intra-operative MRI suite. We are preparing to open a new neuroimaging facility in our Gray’s Inn Road Neuroscience development, that will include 4 Siemens Cima.X systems and an additional Vida. We also provide MRI physics support to the 3T GE scanners at the Chalfont Centre for Epilepsy MRI Unit, and the Queen Square Imaging Centre.

We seek someone with enthusiasm for clinically applying advanced neuroimaging methods to benefit our patients, today as they attend our specialist hospital, and in the future through service innovation.

There will be opportunity to participate in research in collaboration with the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology, and the UCL Hawkes Institute, translating medical imaging innovations into neuroradiology practice for diagnosis and treatment-guidance. An honorary academic appointment with University College London may be available for a suitably qualified applicant.

With a relevant PhD, or significant postgraduate experience, you will be an HCPC-registered Clinical Scientist. Experience in neurosurgical guidance systems, advanced MR methods (fMRI/DTI and/or MRS), and neuroimaging research is highly desirable.

• You will join our team providing MRI physics scientific support to the Department’s intra-operative MRI service, including ad hoc scientific leadership and technical troubleshooting to enable the successful completion of neurosurgical procedures
• The post-holder will play a lead role in technical protocol set-up and harmonisation between our existing MRI scanners, and the 5 new Siemens MRI systems to be installed in our new Gray’s Inn Road facility in 2026
• A key responsibility will be coordinating and delivering MRI physics support to the GE Discovery MR750 3T scanner at the Chalfont Centre for Epilepsy MRI Unit, in Buckinghamshire
