The specialty of Clinical Oncology comprises management of cancer using both radiotherapy and systemic therapy (chemotherapy, hormone therapy and biological agents). It offers a unique opportunity to develop expertise in managing cancer patients and engaging in clinical research and academia. A multidisciplinary team approach and effective communication is integral to the specialty of oncology. Most of an average week is spent in outpatient clinics, prescribing chemotherapy, planning radiotherapy and inpatient care. For further details on the specialty and training please go to the RCR website. We encourage all those who are interested in a career in Clinical Oncology to apply.
