Planning plays a key role for the institution, providing crucial insight and strategic planning expertise to support the development and successful implementation of the University of Roehampton’s new Strategy 2030 and associated strategic priorities.
We are seeking an experienced and confident manager with strong leadership, planning and organisation skills, as well as skills and experience in analysing complex problems and co-designing solutions swiftly and effectively. You will take a proactive approach to your work, identifying and addressing issues as they arise. You will also be an excellent communicator and influencer, able to build positive and constructive working relationships with both your team members and colleagues at all levels within the university.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys driving continuous improvement and implementing new ways of working. You will bring a strong entrepreneurial spirit to your work and be willing and able to innovate and experiment in the design and delivery of new products and services that can support an effective planning function in a complex organisation.
Key responsibilities will include:
Leading a Planning team dedicated to providing proactive, high-quality data insight, management information, strategic planning advice and other services to support meeting the University's strategic objectives.
Designing and coordinating integrated strategic planning across academic and professional services.
Overseeing the production of analysis relating to range of different areas of University activity and the Planning team’s deployment of high-level analytical skills, complex statistical analyses and use of appropriate tools and technology to deliver key data insights to the University Executive Board and key stakeholders across the institution.
Overseeing and helping to drive the enhancement of data practices across all university departments, including leading large-scale data analytics projects and the development of a University analytical community of practice.
The successful candidate will have skills and experience in the following key areas:
Knowledge and experience of effective strategic planning and of converting ambitious goals into practical programmes of action.
Experience coordinating and leading the work of a service area, including the proven ability to lead innovation and experimentation in the design and delivery of new products and services.
Experience of analysing data from a range of sources and in a range of formats to identify issues and design solutions.
Excellent leadership skills, with a proven ability to build positive and constructive working relationships with both your team members and colleagues at all levels within the university.
This is an exciting opportunity to shape and further advance the Planning service within the University of Roehampton and be a key member of the new Directorate leadership team working closely with the Director of Planning and Strategic Projects.
