Anexcellentopportunitytoexploreandexpandknowledge andskillsinthespecialistareaofAntenatal and Newborn screening within a supportive team of midwives, failsafe officer and admin.
Thisrolewillinvolve:
· Closemonitoringof5/6oftheAntenatalandNewbornscreeningprogrammepathways
· MonitoringtheNIPEpathway andliaisingwiththerelevantunitswhereababyisabouttobreachthe72hoursNIPEcheck
· Checkingofbookingbloodsandidentifyinganymissedscreening viafailsafes
· Counsellingwomenwith knownpositiveHIV,HepatitisBandSyphilis resultsandgivingevidence-basedadviceon other infectious diseases to pregnant women
· Counsellingwomenwithabnormalscreeningresultswhichincludeshaemoglobinopathiesandscreenpositive Trisomy results (Downs, Edwards and Patau’s syndrome)

Supporting fetal medicine team when required
Participate in the mandatory teaching of midwives
Coordinate the Newborn bloodspot records, action any concerns with failed/borderline results and liaise with Great Ormond Street Hospital
Using and maintaining various databases (Excel/ Word/ Publisher), liaising with external Stakeholders
The deputy antenatal & newborn screening co-ordinator will work alongside the Antenatal & Newborn Screening Co-ordinator (ANSC) and other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure the provision and continuing effectiveness of a user centred antenatal and newborn screening programme for all women accessing care through Barts Health NHS Trust.
To support the ANSC in ensuring that all antenatal and newborn screening programmes meet national standards. To ensure robust antenatal and newborn screening programmes by assisting with collection and publication of data for Key performances Indicators , Quality Assurance and the Trust annual report for antenatal screening.
